1. Choose a good frame.
A good solid frame is worth investing in. After all, an armchair with a solid frame will serve you well in the long run. Example of a reliable frame is solid hardwood.
Chairs with thin metal framework and particleboard, on the other hand, may not be able to withstand long years of lounging.
2. Cushion is important.
What’s on the inside is as important as the framework. Feather cushions provide luxurious comfort but lacks structure. Foam cushions provide support but will loose its shape over time showing indentations on areas that are subjected to weight the most.
Experts recommend a mixture of feather and foam as this will provide the user with the best of both worlds.
3. Don’t forget fabric.
Always remember to choose the right pattern and colour for your armchair’s fabric so that your chair looks cohesive with the rest of your home. The material of the fabric is also of utmost importance.
Households with children and pets should get armchairs with fabric that is easy to spot clean. Loose fabric that can be detached from the armchair is also a good choice because it can be removed and washed whenever needed.

4. Measure it up!
Measure your space allocated before purchasing the chair, period. You would not want to place an armchair so big that it eats up too much of space. An armchair that is too big will cause your home to look cluttered and restrict space for movement.
You may also consider buying a modular armchair that can be deconstructed if you have a small door to move it through. Simply bring in the chair by parts then assemble it where you want it to be.
